At the Dana Green Team, our industry relationships are key to our success. We've partnered with Hunter Marckwardt, Vice President of CrossCountry Mortgage, for over 12 years, successfully closing hundreds of transactions together. Our partnership goes beyond business; we've become true friends. One of the things I value most about Hunter is his commitment to our clients' big-picture needs. If he's the right lender for them, great. If not, he ensures we find the perfect fit. This level of partnership is unparalleled.
Recently, our conversations have centered around interest rates. While it's a challenging topic, we need the best insights to advise our clients. Here's the latest from Hunter:
What Upcoming Fed Decisions Mean for Buyers and Sellers?
“As we look ahead to two critical Federal Reserve meetings, on July 31st and September 18th, the landscape of interest rates could shift significantly. Currently, traders suggest less than a 10% chance of a rate cut in July, but a substantial 90% probability at the September meeting. These probabilities, often guesses, fluctuate with each week’s economic data.
Two primary factors influence interest rates: inflation and employment numbers. Both indicators are showing positive trends toward a potential rate decrease. While daily interest rate movements affect affordability, many buyers can still afford mortgages at 5%, 6%, or even 7%. While lower interest rates are desirable, if you can afford the mortgage and want to own a home, the interest rate shouldn't be the sole factor in your decision to buy.”
I look forward to seeing what happens in September. However, waiting for September is not a strong enough reason to pass on the unusually high number of opportunities in our current Lamorinda marketplace!
