Lamorinda Schools Are on the June Ballot. What Every Homeowner Should Know.

If you've ever wondered what keeps Lamorinda property values so consistently strong, the answer isn't just the weather or the zip code. It's the schools.

After two decades in Lafayette real estate, I've watched this play out in every kind of market. Homes in top-rated school districts attract more buyers, generate more competition, and hold their value when other markets soften. Strong schools aren't just a perk for families with kids. They're one of the most reliable pillars of long-term property value for every homeowner in this community.

But the value of great schools goes beyond real estate. Thriving schools are at the heart of thriving families. They shape the kids who become the neighbors, coaches, business owners, and community members who make Lamorinda the place it is. This is personal for our team: Allison, Brad, and I are all products of our local schools. And today, Allison and Marisol both have children in the Moraga schools. We're not just advocates in the abstract. We're invested in this community in the most personal way possible.

Lamorinda school districts rank among the top 5% in California. That doesn't happen by accident. It takes sustained community investment, and this June, voters in Lafayette and Moraga have an opportunity to keep that foundation strong.

Lafayette | Measure H: Measure H is not a new tax. It replaces the soon-to-expire Measure L, which currently costs $328 per parcel. Measure H proposes extending that commitment and increasing it by $257, for a total of $585 per parcel annually over nine years. The funding goes toward academic programs, teacher retention, and maintaining class sizes. It requires a 66.67% supermajority to pass and would generate approximately $5.1 million per year for Lafayette schools.

Moraga | Measure I: Like Measure H in Lafayette, Measure I appears to be a renewal of existing funding that is set to expire. Moraga School District is proposing a $295 annual parcel tax for seven years to continue local support for classrooms, teacher retention, and academic programs. It would generate approximately $1.7 million per year and requires a 66.67% supermajority to pass.

Every day in our work, we see it firsthand. Families relocate to Lamorinda specifically for the schools. It is one of the most common things we hear from buyers, and it has been for twenty years. Our incredible public schools don't maintain themselves, though. They are the result of a community that shows up for them, year after year. That's not a political position. It's a civic one. And it's a privilege worth protecting.

Every member of the Dana Green Team is a supporter of both measures. We believe that investing in our public schools is one of the most meaningful things we can do for this community, and one of the smartest things we can do for the long-term health of Lamorinda real estate.

The election is June 2nd. If you have questions about either measure or want to talk through what this means for your neighborhood, we're always happy to chat.
