It’s been exactly one year since we received Shelter-in-Place orders and what a year it has been!
We started with the word "pivot" becoming part of our daily vocabulary.Collectively, we have had to pivot everything from how our families run to how and where we do business.
We then focused on the meaning of the word "home".
The idea of home has changed for many people. Today’s concept of home as a place to live, work, learn, play, exercise, and retreat appears to be here to stay. We receive calls daily from Buyers looking to adopt the Lamorinda lifestyle along with long-time Lamorinda residents deciding to sell to relocate closer to grown children or to other areas of the country. And, residents who don’t want to move, are ready to remodel, expand, and add pools and ADU’s causing a back-log amidst contractors and architects. The Nate Berkus Quote, “Your home should rise up to meet you” certainly resonates!
We are now focused on the word "hopeful".
- May 1st has been promised as the day every American adult will have an appointment to get their vaccine
- Lamorinda schools are opening
- Youth sports are allowed
- Indoor dining is in our future
- Stimulus checks are adding money to the economy
- We are starting to exhale with relief that the “end” is near
What does this mean for real estate in Lamorinda?
The Lamorinda market continues to move at an unprecedented pace. Inventory is very low. Most homes are receiving multiple offers and competition is stiff. Buyers are considering areas and homes they may have previously ruled out as they hustle to take advantage of low interest rates. Sellers are opting to relocate while the market is “hot” but are moving slowly because they are concerned with what they can buy.
