Amidst the ongoing discussions and media coverage surrounding commission lawsuits and the recent settlement with the National Association of Realtors (NAR), I wanted to take a moment to share some insights with you. 

As we navigate through this period, it's important to recognize that the real estate landscape in Lamorinda remains robust, with a high volume of buyers and sellers active in the market. While the upcoming deadline for compliance with the ruling is in July, I believe the immediate impact on our local market will be minimal. 

The ruling, although intricate, reinforces our longstanding practice of transparently charging commissions with our clients' full knowledge and consent. Moving forward, you may notice commissions being displayed on our brokerage's website and agent platforms, albeit not on the MLS. This shift may elevate companies like COMPASS, which hold significant market share, and could potentially reshape the MLS landscape and the positioning of smaller firms. 

I anticipate that reputable agents who consistently deliver value will continue to garner their competitive commissions, while those less qualified agents may face challenges. We are already seeing this disparity in our current real estate market: 95% of all agents do less than 2 transactions a year. This differentiation is natural, reflecting the expertise and service quality within our profession. “You get what you pay for” serves as a reminder to value the relationship between price and quality when making large financial decisions. 

While uncertainties persist, fueled in part by sensationalized headlines, I advocate for maintaining focus and diligence in our work. Now more than ever, our priority remains serving your real estate needs effectively and efficiently.
