The Spirit Of Giving In Lafayette

Yesterday was Giving Tuesday, a meaningful day to reflect on the generosity that strengthens the fabric of a true community. Whether through financial support, volunteering time, or acts of service, giving is what makes Lafayette the special place it is and one of the many reasons families choose to call it home.

We're grateful to live and work in a community we adore and have spent our lives in. Here in Lafayette, we're surrounded by generous people who create lasting change, from those who brought us our beautiful Lafayette Library & Learning Center to the visionaries behind Lamorinda Village. But meaningful giving also happens in everyday moments: delivering meals, volunteering at a school, extending small kindnesses that add up to something profound.

One of our favorite events each year is the Lafayette Chamber's Community Thanksgiving Breakfast. This year marked the 46th year for this inspiring gathering, and the room was filled with doers and givers who prioritize strengthening our community for everyone. Each year, we discover another wonderful nonprofit and meet the passionate people who support it. It's a beautiful reminder of how many hearts are committed to making a difference right here at home.

We're proud that with each house we sell, we're able to give back to the amazing nonprofits doing this vital work. In 2025, the Dana Green Team donated over $85,000 to support the organizations listed below. Thank you to our clients and supporters; your business, referrals, and trust make this level of giving possible. This past week, we had two different people make donations to Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area as a thank you to us. Nothing makes us more proud than to know we are making a difference, one house at a time.

The Dana Green Team created and is sponsoring the Lafayette Community Tree Lighting and holiday celebration this Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Plaza Park. The event is known for old-fashioned family fun and is open to everyone. We created this with the Lafayette Chamber and Branagh Development 13 years ago as our way of saying thank you. As part of this, we also sponsor the twinkle lights on Mt. Diablo Blvd. for the holidays. Look for us in green and please come join the fun!

Yesterday, I also had the privilege of touring George Mark Children's House, and I was deeply touched at every turn. The William Remick architectural design fills the space with incredible light. The meandering paths and gardens offer peace and beauty. The artwork brings warmth and life. But most moving of all is the staff who grace the lives of children and families with extraordinary compassion. For more than 20 years since opening their doors in 2004, George Mark Children's House has provided loving palliative care in a home-like setting, enhancing the quality of life for children with serious medical conditions and their families. The profound impact of their work left me truly humbled.

We are incredibly lucky to live in a community that values giving back to enrich all of our lives. We encourage you to find an organization that speaks to your heart and get involved, whether through a donation, volunteering your time, or simply spreading the word. Please take time to learn more about these organizations:

Children's Health Guild, George Mark Children's House, Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, Lafayette Partners in Education, Moraga Education Foundation, Orinda Network for Education, Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Lafayette Juniors, Las Trampas Organization, Lafayette Library and Learning Center, Lafayette Founding Families.
