A client I deeply admire recently sold his home, and in a conversation we had, he shared some advice he wanted passed along to every buyer who comes after him.
Build your team.
He meant the constellation of people who would help you not just buy a home, but truly live in it. The accountant who understands the tax picture. The financial advisor who sees the long view. The plumber you can call at 7 am, who actually shows up. The contractor who gives you a straight answer. The roofer, the painter, the pest control service, the window washer, and the weekly crew who keep everything humming along. The list goes on, and that's the point. When you have a team you trust, homeownership shifts from something you manage to something you enjoy. Without one, you are always reactive, always scrambling, always starting from scratch.
This resonated with me because it is true in every corner of life and business, including this one.
Some of the deepest professional gifts of my career have been the people I've chosen to work alongside. I have been loyal to the same title company, mortgage broker, appraisers, accountant, and financial advisor for most of my time in this business. We show up for each other. We hold each other to high standards. We make each other better. What started as working relationships became something more like a board of directors, and that board has made all the difference.
And the crew extends further than you might expect. We are part of a Bay Area collaborative of some of the brightest and most respected REALTORS® and teams around the region. We don't compete with each other. We collaborate. We share knowledge, support each other's clients, and hold each other to the same high standards I described above. When our team recently surpassed $3 Billion in sales, that milestone didn't belong to us alone. It belonged to every relationship that helped us get there.
That is also how we think about the people we work with. We are not here just for the transaction. We are here long before you find the right home, holding the big picture while you weigh your options, and we are still here many years and many transactions later. Being your REALTOR® for life is not a tagline for us. It is simply how we work.
Who's on your team?
